Die Flügel am Wegesrand
Ein stilles Zeichen für die Hospizarbeit im Auftrag des Petri Haus Schleswig.
Zwei hochglanzpolierte Formen aus Edelstahl, schwebend, offen und einander zugewandt, bilden die Skulptur „Die Flügel am Wegesrand“. Sie stehen am Rand des Weges, nicht als Tor, durch das man hindurchgeht, sondern als Zeichen und Einladung zum Innehalten. Ihre Präsenz öffnet einen symbolischen Raum, der den Blick lenkt und eine Haltung des Verweilens, der Reflexion und der Begegnung entstehen lässt.
In ihrer reduzierten Formensprache erinnern die Skulpturen an Flügel, Segel oder Tore, Symbole der Bewegung, des Loslassens und der Öffnung. Der glänzende Edelstahl spiegelt Himmel, Wasser und Landschaft, aber auch die Menschen, die sich der Skulptur nähern. Two highly polished stainless-steel forms, floating, open, and turned toward one another, create the sculpture "Die Flügel am Wegesrand". They stand at the edge of the path, not as a gateway to pass through, but as a sign and an invitation to pause. Their presence opens a symbolic space, guiding the gaze and fostering an attitude of stillness, reflection, and encounter.
In their reduced formal language, the sculptures evoke wings, sails, or gateways, symbols of movement, letting go, and openness. The gleaming stainless steel reflects the sky, the water, and the surrounding landscape, as well as the people who approach it. In this way, a space of resonance emerges, along with a moment of self-awareness, a brief instant of quiet amid everyday life.
In the context of hospice care, the sculpture becomes a symbol of life in its entirety, with death understood as part of a natural process. The form of the "wings" alludes to the image of departure, which in many spiritual and cultural traditions is closely associated with dying.
